District Council and Town and Parish Council Elections

Elections will be held on 7 May 2026 for all Councillors on South Cambridgeshire District Council as well as for all Town and Parish Councils in South Cambridgeshire.
Those wishing to stand as a candidate for district, town or parish council elections will need to complete a nomination form.
The nomination period opens on 30 March and closes on 9 April at 4pm. All nomination papers must be delivered by hand to the Elections department at South Cambridgeshire District Council. Nominations cannot be accepted by post.
An informal check of your nomination paper will be made before officially accepting so we recommend you allow enough time for this to be checked whilst you wait. To make an appointment please email elections@scambs.gov.uk. Whilst you may attend without an appointment please note there may be a wait.

Candidate and Agent’s Briefing
We will be holding a Candidate and Agent’s briefing for the District Council elections at 6pm on Wednesday 4 March both in person and online.
We strongly recommend all agents attend the session and encourage candidates to do so as well. If you would like to book a place or have any questions about becoming a councillor please email us at elections@scambs.gov.uk
Election Deadlines
The deadline to register to vote is 20 April. If you aren’t already registered to vote you can apply on the government website.
The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on 21 April. You can apply on the government website.
The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on 28 April. You can apply on the government website.
The deadline to apply for a free voter authority certificate (voter ID) is 5pm on 28 April. You can apply on the government website.

UPDATE – UPCOMING HIGHWAY WORKS on St Neots Road – Information and diversion route

I can now confirm that the permits have been granted. As a result, we will be returning on Monday 14th July 2025 evening to complete the outstanding works, which are expected to be finished by Wednesday 16th July 2025 at the latest.
Please note that the works will still take place under a road closure from 8pm till 6am. Bus access will be maintained throughout.

Unfortunately, CCC were not granted a permit to carry out the works at night due to restricted working hours on St Neots Road. This means they are left with no option but to carry out the works during the day. During this time, buses will be reduced to one per every hour following collaboration with Stagecoach

update 4/6/25 It has been confirmed that a full road closure will be in place on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th June. During this time, buses will not be permitted access. However, please note that the closure will be limited to the restricted working hours of 9:00am to 2:30pm.
